What is RAKdirect?
RAKdirect is RAKBANK’s 24 hour phone banking service. It is serviced by the bank’s phone banking team, assisted by an automated IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system.
How do I contact RAKdirect?
Within the UAE you can contact RAKdirect by dialing 04 213 00 00.
From overseas, you dial +971 4 213 0850 and normal ISD charges are applicable. You can reach the computerised automated service by dialing 800 4049 (toll free) from within the UAE. To access the same services from overseas, dial +971 4 213 0851 and normal ISD charges apply. You can also dial +971 4 221 0450 from abroad on a call collect basis only to register lost or stolen cards.
What is a TIN?
TIN is the Telephone Identification Number. It is a confidential 4 digit number, which allows you access to your bank account through RAKdirect.
Who is eligible to apply for a TIN?
All transaction account holders (current, savings, RAKvantage and RAKsave) with the exception of joint accounts, which requires both signatures. RAKBANK Credit Cardholders are also entitled to this service.
Are joint account holders allowed to obtain a TIN?
If the signing authority is ‘either or survivor / AND OR’ a TIN request will be accepted by the branch. If both signatories have to sign as per the account opening mandate (where signature instructions are ‘AND’) we regret that we cannot issue a TIN.
What do I have to do to apply for a TIN?
You need to sign a TIN application form at one of our branches where it will be processed immediately by entering the 4 digit TIN number which will be activated instantly. For the Credit Cards: Simply call RAKdirect on 04 213 00 00 and you will be assisted by our phone banking team to choose a 4 digit TIN number which will be activated instantly.
How do I access RAKdirect? Is it a chargeable service?
All you need to do is to subscribe for the service when you open your account and then call 800 4049. RAKdirect is a free of charge service.
What are the services offered through RAKdirect?
Services available to you are as follows.
- Banking IVR:
- Account balance inquiries.
- Details of last five transactions.
- Account to account transfer.
- Request statements by fax and mail (up to 30 days).
- Request a cheque book.
- Obtain a salary advance.
- Utility bill payments (Etisalat, ADDC and DEWA).
- Change your TIN.
- Access information about RAKBANK’s product and services.
- Speak to a RAKdirect representative by pressing ‘0’.
Through RAKdirect you can access your bank accounts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
- Automated RAKdirect Credit Card services:
- Balance read out including outstanding and cash balances, next payment due date and minimum payment due (as of previous working day).
- Credit Card application status.
- Order statement by fax or mail (last 30 days).
- Utility bill payments (Etisalat, ADDC and DEWA).
- Change your TIN.
- Speak to a RAKdirect representative by pressing ‘0'.
- Pay your Credit Card (RAKBANK account holders only).
Can I use RAKdirect only during banking hours?
No you can access your bank accounts 24 hours, 7 days a week, even on public holidays and Fridays, either through a phone banking representative or the automated service.
Is there a separate TIN application form for company accounts?
Yes. This needs to be signed by the authorised signatories of the company.
Do TIN customers for company accounts get the same services as individual customers?
Business account holders are able to perform the following:
- Obtain their account balance.
- Obtain details of the previous five account transactions.
- Request a statement to be sent by fax or post.
- Access information about RAKBANK’s product and services.
Can I change my TIN? Do I have to visit a RAKBANK branch?
Yes, you can change your TIN at any time and there is no need to visit the branch. The option for changing your TIN is available on the RAKdirect IVR menu.
How secure is my TIN?
Your TIN is confidential between you and the bank, and therefore secure. However, you should not disclose your TIN to anyone to avoid misuse.
I have a feeling that another person knows my TIN. What should I do?
You should call 800 4049 and change your TIN immediately to prevent misuse. As per the terms and conditions on the TIN application, you are solely liable and responsible for all transaction on your account using the TIN service.
If I call RAKdirect from a mobile phone, will I be charged?
RAKdirect’s toll free number is free of charge and can be accessed from anywhere in the UAE.
If I have several accounts, do I have to apply for different TIN’s?
Once a TIN is generated, it can be used for all transaction accounts under the same master number. You need to put the suffix number for the relevant account which you are seeking details for.
What is the maximum amount per day that I can transfer to another account?
You can transfer a maximum of AED 5,000 from one account to another per day. But there is no limit if you make a transfer of funds within the same master account number.
Is there a minimum amount for transfers?
The minimum amount is AED 9.
If I make a fund transfer payment from my savings account to my current account, how soon can I withdraw from an ATM?
You can withdraw the funds from any ATM immediately.
Is this facility available only for account numbers in the same master number?
No, you can make fund transfers to a third party within RAKBANK.
What is the maximum amount I can transfer to a third party account?
The maximum amount for a funds transfer is AED 5,000 per account, per day.
Can I make a transfer from my AED account to my US$ Account?
No. Fund transfer is only permissible within the same currency and not across currencies. However, for example, you can transfer funds from your US$ current account to your US$ call account.
Do I need to sign up for the utility bill payment option?
No, you do not. You need to use your TIN and input your bill number on the utility payment option.
If I have previously paid a utility bill through RAKdirect, do I have to re-enter the utility account number every time?
RAKdirect will prompt you whether you want to make a payment to your previous utility accounts. If you go to the previous list, you can choose from the list of utility accounts.
What are the utility payments I can make through RAKdirect?
You can make payments to Etisalat, ADDC and DEWA.
What is the total number of Utility bills I can pay through RAKdirect?
You can make up to six payments each for Etisalat, ADDC and DEWA at one time.
What is the maximum amount I can transfer for each utility option?
DEWA and ADDC: AED 4,000. Etisalat: AED 5,000.
Is there a minimum amount I need to transfer for the utility payment?
The minimum amount for utility payment is AED 9.
Can I pay for somebody else’s utility bill?
Yes, as long as you have their utility account number, you can pay for someone else’s bill also.
How do I get the statement request from RAKdirect? Is it sent by fax or mail?
Statement requests made through RAKdirect can be sent either by fax or mail.
Am I charged for the statement?
You receive the statement for the period stipulated, free of charge.
Do I have to input the start and end dates for the required statement period?
In addition to daily, weekly and monthly statements, you can request a statement for a period of your choice by entering the required start and end dates.
Do I have to give my mailing address when I request for a statement by mail?
No. The statement is mailed to the address on your account record.
Can I request for two cheque books at the same time?
You can only request for one cheque book at a time through RAKdirect. However, you can make another request after 10 days.
